After a long flight and a good night rest, took a cab to Christchurch Station and hopped on to the TranzAlpine Train departed at 8.15 am. I was so sleepy. Hardly able to open my eyes and try hard to stay awake. The train journey will be 4.5 hours. It cost me NZ 89 or RM 226 (this price is for NZ citizen otherwise for tourist the cost is NZ189)
I have been told that this train journey is one of the most scenic train rides in the world. I believe that because there are no reasons not too. The train is equipped with open space deck whereby it allows you to takes photo. Something like this:
Some of the photos along the journey
I guess my imaginations are beyond the reality. As such its a little bit of a let down. Perhaps its too cold outside and i have missed the magical scenery that they have promised. Oh well, lesson learned - manage your expectation.
Arrived at Greymouth station and the rental car is ready. Tired but need to continue our journey for another 200km to the motel at Lake Matheson.

We stop for a while at this beautiful lake lanthe. A calm and peaceful lake. See the reflection. Cantik kan.

Arrived safely at the motel. I walked around the quiet town and bought some groceries. The receptionist told me that I can see firefly at night, at one of the lookup point. She gives me map and torch light since it will be dark. After 10 minutes walk, decided to u-turn and back to the car. Its just too dark and nobody was there. Early day tomorrow, 8.35 am and we need to save some energy for the activity.
On the other note - this trip has been exactly one year old today.

Probably the most way to read the lovely plantations of Kerala is without
a doubt on backwater cruises. In the islands, various sized vacation rental homes
are there.
