Back in Saigon

Saigon is one of the dangerous place to visit. Do you know why? It makes your pocket hurts, badly.

Last year, in January I found affordable tailor made shop at Saigon. So here I am in Saigon again doing the same thing as last year - making shirts, pants, skirts and dress. This time - a lot more. Duh.

Its like terpaksa rela situation. If I did not do it here in Saigon, I will have difficulties to find my size @ home. Plus these days I'm too lazy to spend my time at shopping complex. I'm now the homey type :) Those valuable time I can do so much other things kan. So now, sudah menghabisi beratus US for these plus all kain and baju kurung.

While the rest going for a tour, I'm trying to focus to complete my office work inside the room. Kerja seperti hujan.. tak habis habis :) Oh begitulah kan.. mencari sesuap nasi.

I should back to work and then play :) Another massage would be good to compensate my hard work :D

Delivering Happiness

Its been a while, a loooong while since I read a book. I have bought this book for quite some time and make a point to read it while traveling to Japan. To my own surprise, this book has moved me. I read it all the way in the six hour flight. I just had a short nap and can't wait to continue my reading.

I felt it. Somehow its relevant. Authentic and fun - that is how Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos.com Inc shared his success story in making Zappos.com - one of the best companies to work for in 2009. In the same year, Zappos was acquired by Amazon in a deal valued at over USD 1.2 billion. Wow!

He has faced difficulties and challenges especially in terms of cash flow and cultivating the culture. Zappos almost closed down, but what keeps Zappos alive is the people. He has the right people at his back to support him. To save Zappos, Tony sold off his loft at 40% lesser than the market value. His partner Fred, willing to a pay cut as long as it covers his monthly fixed rent and bills. There was a moment when the cash in hand only last for one week and the payroll is due.

He has self doubt. He did not have the magic formula. But he believe. He take a risk and changed his business model from a shoes platform to owning the shoes inventory. He make mistakes along the way but continue finding solutions. The book somehow thought me that running a business is a serious business. No time for petty things. Focus focus focus on what need to be done. Set business direction, take risk and build company culture. All play role. No sticking around attitude.

That's why I'm amazed when people wasting their expensive time and energy towards petty things. Involved in creating drama and planned for unnecessary agenda. Somehow I felt that we are going backwards instead of moving forward. Duh. I just can't get it.

Yep. I just want to work, get things done and go home. Who's get the credit, does not matter and if I make mistakes, I own it up. No cover up coz sooner or later it will show up. Accept the mistake, fix it and move on. The way I work, sometime I do give in. That is how I move mountains. I'm willing to give in if it means I can move forward. I don't like running in circle just to hold up principle. Or keep on nagging on the same issue. I don't have any principle but I do know guided with common sense and good heart I will be fine.

We are not in the movie making industry eh :)

Its raining while waiting for the taxi. Depart to Osaka at 8.20 am with mixed feeling. To be honest I'm scared and anxious. I do not know what to expect. This is Japan where people do not speak English, same like China and I'm on solo trip. I pray hard for good, throughout this journey. Will be staying at the airport hotel, Kansai before heading Osaka the next morning.

Waking up to a nice weather. Breezing cool weather with a bit of sunshine. That's why I love winter. I hardly have headache. I can't really slept last night. Waking up few times, worried I over slept. I have to pinch myself that I'm really at Japan alone, figuring out my way.

Everything is on the dot. Shuttle bus leave at 9.06 am heading back to the airport. Finding my way to the JR station to purchase one day pass of 2k yen. Journey to Osaka is about 55km. Its a bit different from Korea. Inside the train, people do talk and sleep. Not too much hook up to their gadget. Or perhaps its still early Saturday morning :-)

I think I have to be more relax and calm. Be okay to make mistakes a long the way. I have to trust myself. I'm gonna be fine, kan. Not forget to have fun. Otherwise bercuti pun stress.

Today itinerary @ Osaka - Umeda Sky Building, Osaka Castle and Osaka Museum of History then heading kyoto.

Oh wow.. what a day it was yesterday. A bit of struggling to find my way. I was soo confused - changing trains at the train stations. People here are fast. Each time I exit from the train, I have to move to side to set my bearing otherwise I got pushed or I'm blocking someone else. Trains are not interconnected like Seoul. They have a lot of operators and at some station you do can change lanes. Like us Putra and Star. You have to exit and buy new ticket.

To add more difficulties, some of the train makes announcement for the next station in Japanese only. Aduh. I cant find any map inside the train, only advertisement. I was a bit panic but managed to identified from the language.

I arrived Kyoto station at 5 pm. Changed train from JR to Subway. I brave my heart through the rain. Dark, wet and cold, i can't help to felt a bit sorry for myself. 9 hrs capsule hotel should be 5 minutes away from Shijo station. But I'm lost, perhaps I'm taking the wrong exit.

Finally arrived. I'm grateful to find a stranger that actually on his way to the same hotel. Lucky me kan. He even willing to shared his umbrella with me all the way to hotel. We walked and we talked in the rain. Tokyo businessman he is, first time in kyoto.

That's yesterday. I still have to pinch myself now and then. I'm having a moment here.. not sure what it is. Serendipity, I think.

Finishing my last sip of Starbucks, while waiting for niskishi market to open. I'm too early :-) Today plan niskishi market, gion - hoping to see giesha, Hanami-Koji area, Yasaka Shrine, Maruyama Park all the way to Kiyomizudera Temple. Long way to go :-)

Last day in Koyoto. Will be going to Fushimi Inari Shrine before taking JR Airport Express Haruka at Kyoto Station heading Kansai Airport (75 mins 2980 yen). Flight depart at 4.55 pm.

I had a good day yesterday. Pleasant surprises. Turns two strangers into friends. They are from Korea and Tokyo. I'm grateful to have them here. Betul :-) Its like spending time with your good friends. Enjoying the comfort of having someone in the new place, experiencing the journey together.

The hotel that I'm staying - Anteroom Hotel is excellent. Its easy to find from Kujo station. I was a bit worn out yesterday. Penat betul. My feet are damn tired. Arrived when its already dark. The moment i stepped in, I love it. Great ambiance, design and style. . They even give me fresh warm towel while waiting. Waking up very early today enable me to relax in the hot bath tub. Rasa lega. Kaki dan bahu dah sakit :-)

Despite all these struggle that I had, I want to give 5 star to the people here. They are extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. Their willingness and effort to help me despite the language barrier are like.... I don't know. I'm speechless. Sungguh. It makes the struggle bearable and less painful.

I have to make a move now. Today gonna be a great day. I hope :-)

Safely arrived home. It was a great trip actually. A different kind of experience. I learnt a lot of things about myself and Japan. Somehow, Japan has restore my faith in people. I couldn't ask for more. Okini / Arigato Japan. You have been kind.

I have checked Japan from my travel list :)

24 hours trip to Singapore

On Friday, I just realised i didn't make any plans for new year. Me caught up with year end closing and short break with family. I have been working like mad since Christmas. Somehow i'm in need of new exploration. Out of nowhere Singapore pop up in my head. That evening i work out my plan and find my way to get there. From 2D1N end up to 24 hours trip. Purchased Transnasional and Tiger Air ticket online and wala... I'm ready to go :)

I'm a Johorean but never been to Singapore. Kelakar kan. I grew up listening to Singapore radio and watching Singapore tv (masa tu layan Beverly Hills 90210 la). I have even memorised Singapore anthem song - Majulah Singapura. Betul.

Taking taxi to TBS at 11.00 pm as my bus depart at 11.59 pm. So here I am celebrating New Year at bus terminal. Bus arrived late and I managed to watch firework :) Nice. Tak payah bersesak-sesak. At 12.30am with only six of us in the bus, off we go. As always, I make myself comfortable and sleeeep all the way to Singapore. After custom check point, the bus arrived earlier than schedule - at 5 am in the morning.

I was contemplating whether I should find the nearest MRT or should I stay foot at the open space bus station. Finally decided to walk slowly and found petrol station to ask for direction. Lavender MRT located about 600m. MRT will be my main transport for the whole day.

Raffles Place

First station - Raffles Place where the Singapore River is surrounded by huge tall building - CBD. Somehow, it reminds me of Melbourne CBD. I sat down quietly by the river watching people talking, laughing and sleeping. Its after new year celebration. Makanya, sampah bersepah-sepah dan kelihatan mereka yang terbaring tidur di tepi jalan. I think if i wait till the sunshine, perhaps i can see the sunrise.

Next, heading to Merlion Park

Asean Civilisation Museum

Inside - all you need to know about Asean culture, history and people. Entrance fee should be SGD 8, but that day - Free Admission (not sure why).

Bugis

Lapar but couldn't find any food stall. As such move on to next station - Bugis to look for food and to purchase one day tourist pass (SGD 18 for all MRT and Bus, refundable deposit SGD10). Finally found Halal Malay food at the food court. Yahoo. Kenyang

Off all shopping places, i kind of like Bugis Junction. A bit relax and less crowded. Take some time to rest and clean up myself.

Sentosa Island

Took MRT to Harbour Front and straight to Level 3 of Vivo City to take express train to Sentosa Island. The queue was not that long but people non stop coming. At first, I was okay layaaan tengok the park, unfortunately when the sun start to show up, my headache come out. Super Hot Day at Sentosa.

As you walk towards the exit of the MRT, you have been taleport to a different destination called India. The smell, the view, the sound and everything are like in India. Betul. Sebijik. Tetiba ramai gila indians dan telinga di hiburi dengan lagu tamil yg sangat kuat. Saya tersenyum sendiri dan kagum dengan transformasi nya.

Kepala, bahu dan kaki sudah terlalu rasa sakitnya. Seperti mahu pulang sudah. Tapi punya dua destinasi lagi.

Orchard Road

Tidaklah mahu membeli belah sakan. Tidak ada daya mahu memikulnya. Hanya window shopping sahaja. Banyaaaak gila shopping complex. Ramai juga mereka yang dari Indonesia. Mungkin jutawan, shopping di Kota Singa.

Berkeputusan tidak mampu untuk ke dstinasi yang terakhir yang agak jauh - Botanical Garden. Hujan pun sudah menitis. Makanya, lebih baik ke Changi airport awal, refresh kan diri dan baca buku. Tidak apa lah tidak melihat bunga-bungaan.

Arrived airport at 5.00pm and flight at 8.50 pm, four hours to kill. Berjalan-jalan di Terminal satu. Melihat-lihat kerana mahu tahu kenapa Changi Airport among the best airport in the world, currently tempat kedua. Kemudiannya bereder ke budget terminal - perlu naik bas. Tiba sahaja meluruskan kaki di kusyen dan melelapkan mata sebentar. Terasa letih betul. Kemudiannya urut kaki dan ambil masa untuk makan dan baca buku. Flight depart on time dan tiba di rumah jam 11.45 pm. Berjaya juga misi explorasi saya. Alhamdulillah.

Yup. Family is on my happiness list. Being with them is priceless. Its like coming back home to the safest place on earth. No judgement, No question ask. Just Acceptance.

At my current phase of life, its easy for people to judge me. Ya lah. In a perfect definition of happiness - I should be married, have kids and be fabulous working mom and wife. But I'm grateful with my imperfect life. I'm gonna live my life and cherish every moment of it, good, bad and everything in between :)

When granny was sick, Mom was there every moment of it, gives everything that she can - love, time and money. I will always remember that. There are a lot of difference between visiting and being there. Visiting is just like touch and go. You just there for few hours or day and then go. Being there is like everything. Thank you mom for the lesson.

Its timely for me to change my work habit. At times i believe i make things more difficult. I realised that i have wasted my precious time and energy with anger, dissatisfaction and talking. I can be more efficient by focusing on work related only. Say NO to bitching, whining and office politics. Like I said - Jangan Jadi Lembik :)

We are sometime illogical, unreasonable and self-centered. Admit it. We have different way of life, different agenda and different priority. Some people willing to do nasty stuff behind to safe their ass. Plus if you dealing with money (like me) - people can turns ugly easily. Believe me.

Above all these nasty stuff, do good anyway. Good heart is the answer for all this. Kalau kita pun sama memburukkan, bermakna hati kita pun busuk. Makanya tiada beza mereka dan kita. Pada hari yang sukar, lebih baik berdoa dari menambah burukan orang kan :)

Nami Island

Enough with the city, now heading to Nami Island as early as 7.30 am. I bought day tour package at the hotel which a bit costly - 100k won (i know) but i may lost some valuable time finding my own way there. I did goggled prior to the trip, and it will took about more than one hour journey by bus (not including the subway).

The island become famous due to the Korean drama series - Winter Sonata back in 2002. I do admit that i was also gaga over this drama. There were only three Korean drama that i watched - Autumn in my Heart and Full House. Now no more, even the K-PoP back into the scene.. ya. Wonder Girl and Rain.

Our guide - James looks really like those korean boy on TV. The hair cut, the eyes, the glasses which makes him looks nerd and the t-shirt. His English is good and pleasant to ears. He represent the younger generation of Korean - always melekat with gadget. Hardly seen these young people with small mobile phones. Its either iPhone or Samsung or tablet. The bus pick up six more people at the other hotel and off we go.

There are two options to enter Nami Island. Take ferry for seven minutes or ZipWire. Since its windy and cold, I don't think I want to be left out hanging on the wire :)

To get on the ferry and enter Nami Island or Naminara Republic, we need to have Visa or actually ticket (8 k Won) at the Immigration Office. According to James, Naminara Republic is an imaginary country, but has invented its own visa, currency and stamp. The island is named after a brave General Nami, died at the age of 26 after being falsely accused of betrayal. Since its still early, everything was smooth. No long queue.

There's nothing much to explained about the island. I did very much enjoy the walk even in the cold weather and a bit of rain. If you ask me, its worth to come here even you are not Winter Sonata fan. So enjoy the photos - Autumn in Nami Island.

Enough la with the scenary kan :) Lunch at vegetarian Korean restaurant. If you realised, I hardly eat when I'm traveling. Me not that adventurous when it comes into food.

All of us decided not to go to all the Winter Sonata filming places so we decided to visit France settlement. I have yet to read the book. Ni ala-ala Bukit Tinggi but smaller scale.

We had a quick stop at this place to see Seoul city. Unfortunately, battery flat. So this is the only acceptable photo that i can captured from my phone. Moral of story - don't be lazy, bring charger even for a short trip.

Final stop was at super expensive ginseng shop (compulsory tour - like China, government enforcement) before headed to the hotel. The good news was that, the tour cost me 70k won. James honestly returned the money :)

Nanta Show

I was looking forward to watch this show. The reception counter at the hotel had arranged for VIP seat since the normal seat sold out. Mengagahkan kaki menaiki subway to MyeongDong Theatre. Have to change line and station. I exit into wrong direction and ended up to walk a bit more. MyeongDong is a shopping area. Opens day and night, selling all sort of stuff. Apparently i just realised i didn't took any photos as i was rushing for the show.

The performance was good but not great, a bit of disappointment. Since this was my last night at Seoul, I walk and layan nite life at Itaewon street. I come across people of various races, various restaurant from Korean to Turkish, Indian, Italian and Vietnamese. But no more photo :)

Flight back to home at 8.35 am. I was damn tired and sleepy but i didn't slept even a bit. Had interesting conversation for more than five hours with elderly well educated and wise human being. Unlimited topic of conversation from family to politic to education to hijab and life.

Depart from LCCT after work, catching flight at 11.00 pm. I was extremely tired. As usual, cleaning up the desk before travel was like never ending. Lucky this last minute trip was on weekend and public holiday. I bought empty seat option purposely for sleeep. It cost me about RM 18 to get two extra seat beside me empty. I think it was a good deal and wise decision. I rather sleep than eat :)

Flight was full. Ya la.. ingat i seorang je ke nak travel eh? I slept all the way. I heard children crying, people talking and even they switch on the light early. But all that does not stop me from sleeping. I anticipated two full days of extensive place to visit will be tiresome. Better catch my sleep before too late.

Safely landed at Incheon airport earlier than schedule - almost 6 am, about 6 hours journey.

Done with custom, straight away look for bus number 6060 heading to the hotel. Impressive and busy airport (klia is much more quiet). Signs are everywhere so for someone like me that easily get lost, it was helpful. One hour bus ride cost 15,000 won = RM 45.

Unable to check in early, proceed with walking and figuring out where to start. I have concluded that coffee is the only thing i need to somehow light up my day :). Gloomy weather. Its end of autumn, beginning of winter. Cold cold cold. Layaaaan je lah.

Near to the hotel was Samsung Museum of Art. Despite Samsung is my mobile, I do not really eager to explore what in the inside. Plus I was early, its only open at 10.30 am

Next, heading to the Itaewon subway which is about 5 minutes walk from hotel. I was impressed on how their subway works. It interconnected, efficient and fast. At first I was so confused to figure out my way. Serious. I need to know my exit point, the end station, the colour and line number.

Below - subway map that I kept in my pocket all the time. See.. I told you :) It can takes you almost everywhere.

Next - National Museum of Korea. It was huge. Children and teacher everywhere, which is good kan.

But to be honest - they can do better - in terms the layout of the museum - how they tell their story. Reason being when I was at Delhi - visited Gandhi Memorial which was small but the way they navigate us inside the place and how they presented the life of Gandhi was good :)

Nevertheless, i managed to snap this photo of N Seoul Tower. But the weather like i said - gloomy.

At Anguk subway station, I saw this interesting cafe - Bread is ready, Coffee is done. I think if ever i have my own, this name would be perfect :)

Next - Traditional Korea House 'Hanok Village' at Bukchon.

There are people live inside the houses. A lot of cute cafe's along the way. Me getting tired as I have yet to freshen up. Since I cant go inside these houses either - move on.

Further down the road I saw these Palace but cant really remember the name or perhaps i did not saw any in English. Then, mencari jalan pulang ke hotel utk check in.

Berehat sebentar di hotel and before getting lazy with the comfort of bed, next destination Coex Mall - Asia's largest underground Shopping Mall. Yep, its true the mall is huge but nothing much. Its like a normal mall eg - mid valley style not paragon bangkok.

Having a thought to watch movie at their 16 screen multi-cinema complex but only to find out that mainly are korean movies plus the movie display in korean. Hang out for a while enjoying ice cream in winter before heading back to hotel. Letih.

Twlight Saga vs Ombak Rindu

Twlight Saga

Blur sebaik sahaja movie ended. Tidak merasa apa-apa apabila menonton. Kisahnya terlalu hambar. Kalau nak ringkasan cerita, mudah sahaja. Bella akhirnya berkahwin dengan Edward, masih bersahabat baik dengan Jake, mengandung, melahirkan dan akhirnya menjadi Vampire. Sekian.

Teman bercerita yang movie ini pasti sedih. Kiri kanan penonton menangis. Tapi entahlah. Maybe rasa itu tidak sampai. Tetapi tidak lah sampai menyesal menontonnya kerana telah menonton 3 movie twilight yg terdahulu. So kit layaaaan all the way.

Adakah kerana telah hati kering atau sudah bertukar menjadi robot?

Ombak Rindu

Makanya mencuba lagi. Kali ini movie melayu pula - Ombak Rindu. Tanpa mengetahui apa-apa tentang cerita ini kecuali actornya Aaron, Maya Karin dan LisaSurihani.

It was a good movie. What a pleasant surprise. Cukup rasa. Penceritaan, lakonan dan skrip. Tidak meleweh-leweh, tidak cheesy dan make sense. Lagu latar juga menambah sedih. Teringat pula pada movie Cinta. Akan jadi lebih sempurna jika cinematography lebih baik. Apapun, cukup puas hati dengan masa 2 jam yg dibazirkan. Baru mula sahaja pun dah terasa sedihnya. Cuba juga menahan airmata. Tetapi tidak berjaya.

Conclusion : Hati belum kering dan masih manusia :)

am I having a Fever or Just Running Away?

Somehow , somewhere I have been infected with virus that causing me a fever - TRAVEL FEVER. Its creeps inside my head and mind. Aduhai. With work and problems piling up – the urge of going to the unknown destination increases.

Adding to that, my impulsive travel behaviour may get worst. Hohoho. This is just too dangerous. Throughout my reading in regards to this ‘impulsive disorder’, I found out that it’s actually a mental sickness called Impulse Control Disorders (ICD).

Hmmm.... After all the hard day at work, I believe you should reward yourself. Be it a newhand bag, new pairs of sport rims, new gadget and all. That’s why there is this saying

Work Hard, Play even Harder

In spite of saying this, rewards can be the simplest thing in life – rewards of seeing your kids growing up and sharing your love with someone special. Since these rewards are not at my side yet, please let me travel. That’s makes me happy :)

I cant help to have a thought about this (to be the most) while i'm on top of the houseboat at Royal Belum. I came to realised that somehow power, title and money become the most important thing in life (to some people). To be the most - powerful, high ranking and rich person.

Teringat pada kerenah semut semut kecil yang mahu menjadi gajah. Mereka terlupa agaknya. Besar diri, puji diri dan bangga diri. Malah mahu dilayan seperti gajah. Aduh.

For me you really need the right heart, skill and attitude to carry all these three things.

I cant agree more. Lets go back to basic - being a true man. All the other three things will come if its meant to be. I'm not saying power, title and money is not important but the underlying reason is much more important.

Day 2

Woke up very early and enjoying this morning view infront of the room. Start my day with walking around the island. Its not that big actually. Sejam jalan kaki, dah habis pusing.

This was my favourite spot. I can lay down and relax while enjoying the view, listening to the music and connected to super fast wifi.

While contemplating whether I have the courage to snorkel - I just hop in the boat. Kuat kan hati dan semangat - I survived. Visibility not so good, cant see much but for first session - I just need to get used with the surrounding and snorkeling gear. I tagged myself with the this marine biologist guy. Just in case :)

After snorkeling, I decided to go for night fishing. Nak cuba jadi nelayan jaya :) and the photos above was the view of the sunset from the boat. Speechless.

I caught a big fish. YEAY! so proud of myself. Not all of us in the group managed to caught fish tau. I'm the lucky one. Cewah. I shout for help as its a bit heavy to pull the fish up and this Maldivan guy came and assisted me. I have this photos as a proof :) Not that sharp (maybe because the fish was moving) but I have something to remembered off.

I almost give up actually. Lama gila menunggu sahaja. Bila orang lain dapat, rasa tak sabar. But at last, this big fish hook into my umpan. Cant describe how happy i am :)

The staffs help to cook the fish Thai style - FOC. I exchanged my fish to the smaller one and requested them to send it to room. Suddenly I got two fish :) This was just perfect to end my day two at Maldives.

Day 3

I have been waking up early every day, as early as 4 am. I know i'm on holiday but I just can't continue sleeping. Need some time to adjust to the time difference. So, every morning I walked by the beach breathing thru the fresh clean air while looking for interesting stuff to snap.

Today, I braven my heart and went for snorkeling trip (what else to do in an island kan). Boat ride to Turtle Point was about 40 mins. Macam-macam rasa ada. Tak terkata. But as soon as i start snorkle, my fear somehow slowly fade away. The water was so calm and the visibility was damn clear. I'm able to relax and enjoyed the sea bed view from up above. Gila cantik. Gila best. The colourful coral, fish and whatever marine life down there were so close, tak perlu dive. I saw four turtles :) I wish I had a photographic memory so that I can remember clearly all those beautiful creatures. Tu la.. tak ada underwater camera :(

I snorkel three times today at three different spot, sampai kecut jari jemari. I give myself a pat on the back for being courageous :)

Day 4

Oh no.. last day at paradise :( I wish the time move slowly. As usual, my morning routine - snapping photos. It was raining and windy. I was lucky, for the past few days weather was good.

After breakfast, slowly i packed my bag. Flight depart at 10.45 pm. I got looong way to go. To kill the time - what else - one last snorkeling trip at 2.30 pm. Lucky the weather getting better, otherwise this snorkeling trip will be cancelled.

Snorkeling was a bit challenging. Choppy water plus the rain start falling non stop. I struggled to move fwd. Asyik tertelan air masin. But the sea bed view was amazing. I was carried away and amazed.

Seperti tidak cukup-cukup, after the snorkeling trip (with the wet swimming suit) and rainy day, i continued to SAIL. They called this Catamaran. Catamaran need strong wind to sail. They said i'm so lucky. On my last day - there's wind :) However, I left my camera at the centre, leaving me with the phone camera. Ok lah, rather than nothing.

My trusted sailor. The whole journey was relaxing. He sailed to this small sandy spot, middle of the ocean. Btw, that thing on the sand was my dry bag.

To make my trip a bit dramatic - as always - I need to be rescued. On our way back to the resort, there was no wind. We stuck in the ocean, not moving. He said the tide are low and the resort blocking the wind. Somehow I did not panic. I just enjoyed the moment. Its raining and I'm middle of the ocean. The rescue boat arrived, tie the catamaran and we move slowly heading the resort :) Another perfect ending.

Day 5

Slept all the way back to BolehLand. Tired but happy :) Safely arrived early morning. Home sweet Home. Hello bed :)

Solo again?

Point A to Point D

There are few things I learned about myself (and Maldives) while travelling solo. I realised day by day that I have been building my own self limitation. I did that to myself. I somehow sabotage myself from growing. I stop trusting myself and my own intuition and guts. Having doubt here and there.

Buckling my seat belt on the flight from KLIA airport to Changi airport, Singapore to Colombo airport, Sri Lanka and finally to destination - Male, Maldives - all in one day. It was tiring but I did enjoyed the taste of complete freedom all the way. Layaaan. BTW, I almost missed the transit flight from Colombo to Male :D

Through out the five days, I did felt uneasy and out of place at the beginning. But somehow I overcome it and surprised myself. Somehow travelling alone makes me realised I'm more resourceful than I thought, I'm able to make my own important decisions and I can be spontaneous and trust my instinct.

I'm happy, pleased and satisfied with this journey. I tasted everything that I should. Macam-macam ada plus facing my fear with the open sea was also a big thing for me. Perhaps more to come in near future :)

Stop and Smell the Roses

I can hear clearly the sound of wave from the ocean. Its so much reminds me of what had happen many years back. How can i forget that.

I choose to be here. Near to the ocean in a hope that i can calm myself, rest and relax. Far far away from home. Does it really work? I don't know.

Its also a gift to myself for working damn hard. I deserve this. Afterall its my birthday and 10 donkey years of working. I should appreciate myself.

Yup it cost me a bomb but entahlah. Somehow i dont care anymore. I have the urge to treat myself good. I'm tired. Extremely exhausted. Partly, this is me giving up. Do not know how far i can go.

Being here, doesnt mean i can find the solution. Its just a temporary distraction. I still need to find my way.

Being here I feel humble. There is so much beauty in the world. I just need to stop and smell the roses. I wish i can stop the time from ticking and continue smell the roses.

Be grateful. That's should be my mantra. Shut away the ungrateful feeling. Tuhan itu Maha Adil.

Gonna miss this island. Thank you for being nice too me. I had a great time with you :) Much Love.

All set and ready for the super looooong journey. Eleven hours ride, 650km for NZ 77 or RM 200 . The coach depart sharp at 8.00 am and will only start moving when you buckle your seat belt :)

Instead of the original plan, which heading up to Wanaka - Fox Glacier - Greymouth, we are now heading further down to Dunedin and Timaru. This is what i have missed : The Glacier Walk and The TranzAlpine train , not forgetting the Milford Cruise. Sigh :( But I'm grateful be home safely :)

The eleven hours journey was like forever... plus the seat belt that keep you safe and tight :D. I hardly keep track where am I. I just keep looking at the watch hoping the time moves super fast. From snowy view to the green grass to the colourful rainbow over the beach and to the town building, finally we arrived safely at Christchurch. Fuhh! I'm speechless on how to describe the journey.

Next day, our flight was in the afternoon. I managed to play with the drizzling rain :D Yeay! Its has been a while. We had our last shopping deal before we depart to home sweet home. I ended my story telling with this post box. Cute kan :)

Self Drive South New Zealand: Day 5 and 6 - Polar Blast, Te Anau

Te Anau

It was bitterly cold that night. Heavy snow and strong winds combine together making it like crazy angry person. We requested for an additional heater to keep us warm. It doesn't takes a long time for the snow to cover everything outside the room.

Blanket of snow - that was how it looks like from the window. Terus ke reception to get the weather update. We saw on TV last night it was due to Polar Blast. They described it was a once in a lifetime experience - the heaviest snowfall in 40 years. Am I the lucky one?

My worry becomes reality. Main highway to Wanaka were closed. Christchurch and Queenstown airports closed. School across the country also have been closed. Not wanting to give up, I asked if Milford Sound cruise is open for visitors. Surprisingly they are in business HOWEVER the road heading to Milford is closed. Sigh.

To kill time and to continue our survival, we walked to the town. Almost all shop closed. Sunyi sepi. Sejuk beku.

Menunggu dan menunggu untuk jalan dibuka semula. Hinggalah malam tiba dan tidur semula. We had cancelled all other activity and bookings. We did some homework for Plan B.Its kind of stressful and tiring. At times panic pun ada. Feeling like taufoofa. Lembik.

Early morning, weather looks good but the road still closed. To buy some time, Sarah and I made huge snow man.Even bigger than myself :)

The motel owner suggested us to go for different route which heading to Dunedin airport should we want to catch domestic flight to Christchurch. However we need to drop off the rental car. The nearest - Queenstown. Meaning that we have to go back to the scary road that we drove earlier. Errr... takut, plus no more domestic flight tix from Queenstown to Christchurch. We kind off stuck. Watching too much TV makes us more worried - cars accident and towed and driver stranded middle of nowhere while the road closed.

We think hard. Super hard. Should we drive all the way to Greysmouth, return our car and then take the train or heading Dunedin. We do not know. We do not know what to expect. Yes, we chicken out. The uncertainty and the unknown are scary.

Finally we decided the safest option which was to leave the car at motel (and pay for the charges) and take a coach to Christchurch. I do not know whether it is the correct decision, but in my heart i knew whatever it will be, it was the best decision at that particular moment. We almost missed the opportunity to purchase the coach tix as the visitor centre was almost closed. The journey from Te Anau to Christchurch is 11 hours. Gonna be a loooong day tomorrow.

Queenstown to Milford Sound 298 km

Our next destination is Southern Discoveries, Milford Sound for Ecounter Nature Cruise at 12.45 pm. Based on gps it will takes us almost 4 hours to destination, but if based on the website, it will takes 5 hours. To be safe, we leave the lodge before six am when it still dark and freezing cold.

The weather changed easily. To tell the truth, its kind of scary as we are unable to predict our journey. At times okay, at times drizzling, at times heavy rain and most of the time snowy. We did carry our chains but we don't think we are able to put it on the wheels plus driving slowly with chains is not a cup of tea. You will never know where you will end up. As the weather getting worst, we try to calm ourselves by following the bus in front of us. The road was really lonely.

Followed by instinct, I decided to call our motel to check on the weather condition and if there is any way we can take bus to Milford Sound. We are so lucky. Since it still early, we are able to catch a coach and proceed with the cruise. So we turn left to Te Anau heading to our motel instead of Milford Sound. We have been driving for 3 hours without stop, 170km.

We hop into the coach and seat comfortably with the rest of passenger. Waiting and waiting until the driver announced his decision - to turn back to Queenstown instead heading Milford Sound due to the road and weather condition. I was so disappointed but yep, safety comes first.

So, we walked around the small town in very cold weather.

We check in to our motel and have a good rest before our next activity. Cute kan the motel

Our next activity for the day - Glow Worm Caves. Huge boat ride was about 30 mins to destination.Cameras and any recording devices were not allowed in the cave as the worms are very sensitive to the light or noise. They can actually die.

We had to walk carefully inside the cave. It was pitch dark. Once we hop into the sampan, no talking please. The view was spectacular. I felt I'm in a different galaxy with stars within our reach. Its remind me of our own fireflies :) To give some idea, our sampan ride is something like this

Mount Cook to Queenstown 280 km 3hrs 40mins

Saying goodbye to Mount Cook and heading Queenstown not so early in the morning. Still, bitterly cold and everything is frosted over. My type of weather :)

Twizel is small town of 1000 people, founded in 1968 to service a hydro scheme. When the project completed, the town refused to die and transformed into a tourist centre

I’m beginning to get tired of snowy mountains, actually. But kita layan je.

Arrived Cromwell, we spot a fruit shop and stop for a while. Then we check in at Shotover Lodge before making our way to Skyline for Gondola ride.

I was contemplating on bungy jumping. But when i saw the platform from inside the gondola, i chicken out. Hahaha. Terus cancelled. My heart not brave enough.

I think Langkawi cable car was scarier than this.

Done with gondola, we walk around. They say Queenstown is the capital of adventure sport. I won't argue. The streets are full of choice for adventure, for a fee of course.

Had dinner at seafood restaurant. Serving was huge, even two of us can't finished it. Make our way back to our lodge for a well earned rest.

Self Drive South New Zealand : Day 2 - Lake Tekapo & Mount Cook

Christchurch to Lake Tekapo 240 km 3.3 hours

I let the photos do the talking :) Weather is great, sun shines but it's still freezing cold. This lake is at 700m above sea level. Fed by glaciers, it has a unique turquoise colour. The small building at its bank is Church of Good Shepherd, built in 1935. I'm getting the overwhelming feeling due to the overloaded scenery :) Now heading Mount Cook.

Lake Tekapo to Mt Cook, 110km 1.30 hour

Mt Cook is NZ's highest mountain and longest glacier at 3,744m. The road is lonely with very little traffic. Mt Cook dominates the whole 60km of the route. I found myself exceeded the speed limit so many times..errr i don't think there are speed cameras along the mountain. We need to be fast. Need to check in at Aoraki Mt Cook Alpine Lodge at soonest. We have trekking to do before dark.

The owner upgraded our room - foc :) The room has superb mountain views.

Based on the signage, Kea Point Walk should takes 2 hours return from The Hermitage Hotel. The Hermitage is 10 minutes walk from our lodge. We are set and ready to go. Serious ni.

Finally... sigh. After MORE than one hour we arrived at the finished point at the Kia Point viewing deck with views of the Southern Alps and the Mueller Glacier lake. Rasa mcm nak pengsan pun ada heh.

We stayed for a while trying to catch our breath and return on the same track.

I think we spent too much time taking photo plus our foot steps is not as fast as theirs. It was cold, slippery and a bit confusing as there were only few signages. The path has been coverd with snow and we tried to follow the foot steps. Our nose, lips and ear was almost numb. But was all worthwhile. It was almost dark when we reached our room and we are extremely hungry. Makan time.

Self Drive South New Zealand : Day 1 - Christchurch

After eleven hours journey we safely landed at Christchurch International Airport at 2 pm. I managed to catch some sleep as there was empty seat next to me. Four hours ahead may cause a bit of jet lag. We declared on our arrival card for the food that we bring. We knew there is huge possibility that they will throw our food, but luckily only the spicy beef. The rest was ok. Legaaa.

Next, we called our rental car which the pick up point was located very near to the airport. We rented Toyota Corolla Auto at NZ59/day with GPS. We tried hard ~~(not)~~ to pay attention and memorised the demonstration on how to fit the snow chain into the tyre. At the same time, we are given a copy of the instruction manual.

It was a gloomy day. Its raining when we check in to our motel - Avalon Motel which near to city centre and have free wifi. The city centre was badly damaged due to the earthquakes in Sept last year and in Feb this year. They yet to re-build any of the building but I saw on TV they have a huge plan on how to redesign the city. The earthquakes caused an estimated NZ15 billion of damage. We went to Countdown to buy some groceries for us to survive for the next few days. I saw our own Laksa and Penang curry in can :)

Back to Nature, New Zealand

I was super excited for this trip. Who doesn't? I was soo teringin to go to NZ after watching the famous sequel LOTR. Since the best way to enjoy NZ is self drive, both of us determined to drive on our own even we knew its winter. Nine days trip (including travel time) was the longest vacation i ever had for outside m'sia.

I did my research and take note some do and don'ts. Prior to the purchase of airticket, I did googled NZ weather. August should be the last month for winter and i assumed it will not be as cold as July plus I love travel in winter. My worries are just the chains. We never ever drive in the snowy weather.

So, this was our super ambitious itinerary, 10-18 August 2011

Total driving distance is about 1800 km, seven days travelling including train from Greymouth to Christchurch via Tranz Scenic. Off all places, my favourite is Milford Sound, Fiordland due to its dramatic scenary.

Day 1: Christchurch
Day 2: Lake Tekapo & Mount Cook
Day 3: Queenstown
Day 4: Milford Sound & Te Anau
Day 5: Wanaka
Day 6: Fox Glacier
Day 7: Greymouth & Christchurch

I found very interesting facts about NZ in the travel guide book:
1. Kiwi is the nickname used internationally for New Zealander. It was officialy used in Oxford English Dictionary in 1918.
2. Kiwi is flightless bird native to New Zealand, also national symbol of New Zealand.
3. Population : Kiwi (Human) approximately 4.4 million, Kiwi (Bird) approximately 70 thousand and Sheep apporoximately 40 million. (Moooooooooooooooo).
4. More than 1,000 years ago the Maori (Polynesian explorers) left their South Pacific homeland, Hawaki, on voyaging canoes and arrived in New Zealand. It was discovered again by Europeans in 1642 by Dutch explorer Abel Tasman.

Bersyukur tahun ini dapat cuti panjang sedikit semasa Ramadhan dan Syawal. Kalau dihitung, saya hanya bekerja selama empat belas hari sahaja pada bulan August. Patutlah terasa sangat tidak cukup masa.

Saya cuba mengubah persepsi saya tentang meraikan Syawal. Saya mahu ia sederhana tetapi bermakna. Saya mahu meraikan Syawal dengan ziarah dan bermaafan. Maaf yang punya makna dan bukan setakat bersalaman. Tidak mahu hanya habiskan masa terluang dengan duduk dirumah dan menonton tv.

Pada hari terakhir berpuasa, kami telah bertolak ke kampung arwah nenek untuk bacaan tahlil dan iftar bersama pakcik dan makcik. Semua adik beradik emak ada berkumpul. Saya tidak boleh ingat, bila kali terakhir kami semua berkumpul. Saya melihat beria-ia sungguh pakcik dan makcik saya bersalaman bermaafan dengan emak. Terasa sayu melihatnya.

Hari raya pertama, kedua dan ketiga penuh dengan aktiviti ziarah-menziarahi. Kami sempat menziarahi semua rumah saudara-mara dikampung. Rumah emak juga penuh sesak dengan sedara-mara. Saya merasakan saya tidak henti-henti memasak. Mengemas dari pagi sampai malam. Penat. Tetapi saya bersyukur kerana tahun ini ramai yang menziarahi kami. Tercapailah hajat saya utk meraikan Syawal ~~(walaupun tanpa baju baru :))~~

Kami rindukan rendang arwah nenek KL. Tak rasa raya kalau tak ada rendang nenek. Atas permintaan abang, kakak, adik dan diri sendiri, saya masak juga rendang resepi turun temurun sebelum pulang ke KL. Nasib baik nenek dah turunkan pada emak dan saya. Dapatlah kami semua merasa.

I heard this song repeated so many times while driving at NZ. Her crystal clear voice is amazing and now seeing her singing live with piano gives me goosebumps. I exactly remember how I felt at that particular moment of my life. But - I wish nothing but the best for you too.

Nothing compares, no worries or cares.
Regret's and mistakes they're memories made.
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?

You have been Missed

I remembered that day receiving phone call from my brother informing that grandma having difficulties to breathe and was sent by ambulance to the hospital. I was avoiding myself being close to my mobile phone. I was afraid. I was afraid to hear the news and updates. As I was busy and carried away handling stuff, I realised I have yet to check my mobile for a while. There was two smses from my brother and the last text was to inform me that grandma has passed away. I'm having a flashback. Our last moments and last hugs, on her good day.

It has been 16 days. I think mom and my brother should have missed grandma the most. They have been taking care of sick grandma for many many months. Taking care of grandma has been a routine. Things now change. The sadness may pay a visit once a while. I hope they will be strong.

More empty spaces in my heart. You have been missed. Al-Fatehah.

Saya merasakan banyaknya yang saya terlupa. Pada setiap dugaan, saya kerapkali lupa berdoa. Saya simpankan sahaja. Padahal Allah menunggu saya untuk meminta, merayu dan memohon pertolonganNya tiap hari tiap ketika. Dia mahu mendengar. Saya yang tidak mahu membuka hati. Sombongnya saya.

Pesan seorang rakan tentang rasa ikhlas: Jangan ditunggu dan jangan dicari rasa Ikhlas itu. Buat sahaja. Lakukan berulang-ulang kali. Jadikan amalan. Insyaallah, rasa itu akan terbit.

Betul bukan? Kalau nak ditunggu datang rasa ikhlas baru nak buat, sampai bila-bila pun tak buat, sampai bila-bila pun tak dapat. Dapat tunggu sahaja. Kalau mencari rasa ikhlas, perlu terus usaha lakukan sampai jumpa rasa ikhlas itu dan bukannya bila tidak jumpa mencari, kita hentikan perbuatan atau amalan. Lagi lah tidak terbit dan jumpa rasa ikhlas.

Question is how do we know the decision is right or wrong? Good or Bad? We will never know until the situation arrised or the result show up. We can only choose to decide based on the best possible outcome at that particular moment. Whatever the result is, we need to make peace with it; knowing that it was the best possible option available.

I'm trying not to sleep too much as I have 10 hours journey back to KL. Having said that, my 11 hours bus ride from Te Anau was like forever. But I'm grateful to arrived safely at Christchurch. Agaknya kalau kat Malaysia sama seperti dari Johor sampai lah ke Perlis. All domestic flight are full, leaving us with limited option and too much consideration to think off.

Coming back home with mixed of feeling. Need the extra energy to continue and change. At times I think I'm not able to contribute more. Habis sudah semua. I wonder what people do when they hit the wall? Me wanting to change but sourcing for the right reason. Need the extraordinary push for me to be committed with.

Oh, I think I need to come back here - in Spring :)

Sepuluh tahun dan...

masih berdiri.

hanya dua perkataan itu yang terfikir oleh saya.

saya merasakan tempoh perjalanan itu sangat lama dan kalau saya toleh ke belakang amat jauh rasanya.macam-macam rasa ada – manis, pahit, payau, masam, masin, kelat, tawar dan hangus.

melihat perjalanan untuk sampai ke hari ini itu terasa kepayahannya. pada hari yang sukar, terasa sangat mahu berputus asa. kadang terasa tidak adil kerana melihat yang lain tidak perlu melalui hari-hari seperti saya untuk mencari sesuap nasi. terasa sangat dihati. jatuh berulang kali, disakiti beratus kali dan direndahkan berkali-kali.

tidak apa lah jika tidak dipandang, tidak apa lah jika tidak dihormati dan tidak apa lah jika tidak dihargai. bak kata orang – tak mati dek keji.

saya masih berdiri

saya mahu kenangkan yang baik kerana amat banyak yang saya perlu berterima kasih. jika umur saya panjang, rezeki saya masih di sini, saya akan terus memberi. saya tidak mahu mengambil kesempatan, tidak mahu take things for granted, dan tidak mahu menjadi selesa. saya berharap, yang manis itu berpanjangan, yang pahit itu berkurangan.

Terasa Hati?

Sepatutnya tidak jika saya ikhlas. Mungkin rasa ini lebih kepada kecewa.Tetapi terhenti dan berfikir sebentar apabila membaca kata-kata ini

Mengecilkan hati orang adalah berdosa, berkecil hati juga adalah berdosa. Tetapi lebih besar dosanya jika kita berkecil hati.

Confuse kan. So teruskan membaca perbualan ayah dan anaknya:

Ayah: Jika seseorang hina kita, dia berdosa. Jika kita terasa hati dengan penghinaan dia, kita juga berdosa. Tetapi, dosa kita lebih besar dari dosa dia.

Anak: Tapi kenapa pula? Kita tak buat apa-apa pun kan?

Ayah: Kerana orang yang menghina kita itu adalah peringatan daripada Allah.

Anak: Blur

Ayah: Kenapa kita dihina oleh orang itu? Kerana itu adalah ujian daripada Allah. Kenapa Allah hadiahkan kita ujian itu? Kerana DIA nak mengingatkan diri kita yang dah leka dengan dunia. Bila kita berkecil hati dengan orang tersebut, bermakna kita tak redha dengan ujian Allah turunkan. Kesimpulannya, kita bukan kecil hati dengan orang tetapi kecil hati dengan Allah.

Ayah: Lagi parah bila kita pun cerita pada kawan-kawan kita.Dan kawan-kawan kita pula cerita pada kawan-kawan lain. Jadi keredhaan kita terhadap ujian Allah itu akan lesap.

Saya: Masih berfikir.

Taking ownership

This is funny.

It’s like going one circle.

When I asked x-men for overall documentation, x-men requested me to request from captain america. When I asked captain america, he told me that he only in charge of america, not for all other country. Then I have to go back to x-men. x-men pula kata he would like captain america to take charged as he has other things to focus on. So i go back to captain america. Captain america told me he didn’t know the whole requirement and deliverable. He cannot provide me with the costing. So, siapa nak buat? Siapa nak take charge? Perhaps, it is very very hard to communicate among super hero, i guess.

Same goes to incorrect and unapproved documentation and travelling. Dia kata sana, sana tak mengaku. Sana kata sini. Sini pula tak tahu. Hmmmm. Entahlah.

This is just an example of so many funny things that had happened. Funny isn’t it?

Saya teringat kata nasihat orang lama:

Beri seorang seekor ikan anda akan memberinya makanan untuk sehari. Ajar dia cara menangkap ikan, anda akan memberi dia makan seumur hidupnya.

Kali ini, saya beri lagi ikan, saya ajar juga cara menangkap ikan. Saya tolong beri justification. Next time terpulanglah. Saya percaya anda semua hebat. Pandai-pandai bawa diri ya :)

I think i should give up.

Looking back at my day today, i think i'm the one that should learn. I should learn how to give up. Keep on explaining the same thing over and over again, trying to make other people understand - doesn't work. I should just stop. I should value my time and energy.

Someone told me that i should give up looong time ago. Seeing me trying very hard to make this person see and understand the reason behind was wasted and useless kind of act.

I was trying very hard out of care and responsibility. Partly, i thought there was hope and willingness. Willingness for that person to listen, to understand and to learn. Unfortunetely i'm wrong. Probably I'm not influential and powerful enough. Besides, I'm nobody. Not that person boss (of course).

I should give up since everyone else would understand. I don't have the true strength. Afterall i have tried my best. It's enough.
